Anadolu Ekspres presents: A Journey into Turkish “Gastarbeiter” Music, 3 July 2021.

Event program and panel talk organised at sonsbeek20-24 Force Times Distance at Eusebiuskerk, Arnhem (NL).

“Arbeitskräfte wurden gerufen, aber menschen sind gekommen.” - Ozan Ata Canani.

"Anadolu Ekspres presents an extremely lo-res/lo-fi/lo-key audiovisual program exploring the told and untold histories of Turkish migrant workers in Europe and the themes of labour and migration that are embedded in the vast legacy of “gastarbeiter” (gurbetçi) music and cassette tape culture in Germany and The Netherlands. An evening filled with casual music archaeology, panel talks, cassette tape DJ-ing, video presentations and live performances by: Aylin Öcalan, Cengiz Mengüç, İlayda and Osdorp Tapes (Barış Akardere & Jurriaan Pots). Moderated by Cengiz Mengüç (Anadolu Ekspres) and Krista Jantowski (sonsbeek20-24)."
